The Human Mind
The human brain consists of two hemispsheres, the left-side and the right-side. Each side is responsible for different characteristics. The left side of the brain controls the ability to speak and to organize speech. It is logical and systematic. The left side of the brain deals with matters as they are dealt and is very straight-forward. The right side is responsible for understanding written and spoken language. Music, and abstract geometric shapes are recognized mainly by the right side. It is ituitive and imaginitive and is most concerened with emotions and feelings. Since the two halves of the brain are interconnected, the abilites and skills listed above are able to co-operate and contribute to each other. The right part of the brain links to the older part, which includes instinct and intuition. PSI skills are loacted in the older part of the brain; many times they need to be "awoken" or restored. The older part of the brain controls images. The more older brain mass an individual has the more "psychic" they will be determined to be. Thinking in pictures, and not words is a charecteristic of a large older brain portion.
Each hemisphere communicates with the other by a series of electric signals, known as brain waves. The brain is constantly active, producing waves as long as the person is alive. It controls the complex process known as sleep. Sleep consists of several stages: shallow, deep and REM. The average human spends about an hour in deep sleep, another hour in REM then altleast four hours of shallow sleep, during which the mind is waking back up. REM sleep or rapid-eye-movement sleep consists of the eyes moving rapidly and continuously. Dreams occur during this stage. When extremely stressed or after a long period on not getting enough sleep the brain omits this stage. REM sleep is required to feel rested and energized. This is why it is important to get atleast 6 hours of sleep every night.
During the REM stage dreams occur. Dreams are segments of day-to-day life or ideas that have been pushed into the subconcious. During REM sleep the subconcious is opened up and the imagination takes over, resulting in dreams. During the one hour you are in the REM stage you may have up to as many as 25 dreams. The last dream will be the one you remember, if you remember it at all.
The human soul and the subconcious are contained within the older part of the brain. The mind is constantly evolving to become more efficient and advanced. As each generation of humans reproduces the natural instincts of the human behavior are being hidden more and more. Mutations in DNA cause genetic change. Instincts are no longer as important as they where in early times. Since they are not being used, they are cast aside and covered up. More room is needed for advancement in technology and industry.
The mind is a remarkable thing. So much is possible with it. It would be horrible to waste such an interesting, important tool.
