Club History |
The concept of the UNI Baseball Club was brought about by our first club President Neal Molitor in 2004. After a year of paperwork to get the club up and going, UNI played a few "pick-up" games with area colleges such as ISU, Minnesota State, Grinnell, & NIACC. The Panthers posted their first ever club victory in their first ever game against the Cyclones. |
In the Spring of 2006, UNI played their first regulation conference game as part of the NCBA against Iowa State. After taking a lead, ISU fought back and forced the game into extra innings where the Cyclones eventually survived the Panthers. After 14 innings, the Cyclones came out on top 12-8. |
The following week, UNI faced off against the then ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers and kept both games very close, but the Hiskers too escaped the Panthers in a double-header. |
Finally, UNI posted its 1st win in the NCBA as it topped the Iowa Hawkeyes in an offensive showdown 15-13. The Panthers were able to take 2 from the Hawkeyes on that weekend and look now to continue winning on into the future. |
