Firstly it was great to come away with our first win of the season. What made the win even more exciting was the improved performance from last weeks game. Long periods of continual pressure and run on football proved to much for the opposition. The down side to our first win was the in jury to Tim our centreman. Injuries in the first two games have been a major concern with rolled/twisted ankles occurring with frustrating regularity. This just reinforces the need for everyone to have ankles strapped before each game. With summer approaching and the grounds getting harder strapping becomes even more essential.

The game against Waitakere highlighted a few players versatility and emphasized the importance of attacking the football. Hippy stood out at centre half forward making an impact from the first centre bounce. With quality ball being delivered from our on ballers and also from Todd who patrolled half back with dominance. Other stand out players were Clint at Full Back again having a strong game and then once moved to the centre began to dominate the middle. Geoff on the wing for only his second game performed very well. It was a good team performance shown by the even spread of goal kickers.

Next week will bring tougher opposition but from this performance we are heading the right way to improve even further.
