Over the past four decades, Gore Creatures (later Midnight Marquee) has developed into one of the leading genre film publications. Issues 1-12 were digest size and used crude printing techniques, but by #16 GC was full size and printed photo offset. Many memorable articles, series and features (and a lively letters column) graced the pages of GC over the years. As principal artist for the mag, Dave Ludwig's covers and interior illos. helped shape the mags' look. Bill Nelson (who became the regular cover artist for the early isues of Mid/Mar) showed off his many drawings of Lon Chaney in GC. With issue #26, Gore Creatures changed it's name to Midnight Marquee and celebrated it's 40th year of publication in 2003. Now in it's fifth decade, Gore Creatures / Midnight Marquee has left a legacy that is not likely to be equaled. Midnight Marquee Press has also published many books on the subject of fantasy films by some of today's best genre writers. |
