SPORTSMANSHIP IN HUNTING ACT |
The Sportsmanship in Hunting Act (H.R. 1688), introduced by Representative Sam Farr (D-CA) on April 19, 2005. U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) introduced a companion bill (S. 304) in the U.S. Senate February 7, 2005. This bill, if passed, would halt the interstate trafficking of exotic animals for purposes of “canned hunts.” There is nothing sportsmanlike about confining an animal in an enclosed space with no chance of escape, which enables hunters to shoot and kill an animal at close range for the purposes of “trophy collection.” Please urge your U.S. senators and representatives to support this legislation. COMPUTER-ASSISTED REMOTE HUNTING ACT |
The Computer-Assisted Remote Hunting Act (H.R. 1558) was introduced by Representative Tom Davis (R-VA) on April 12, 2005. This bill, uniquely supported by animal right activists and hunters alike, would prohibit hunting via the Internet by a simple click of the mouse. Internet hunting is a high-tech form of animal cruelty that detaches the hunter from the barbaric practices associated with hunting. The Internet hunter cannot see the agony he/she inflicts on the dying animal. This form of hunting minimizes the impact of death and turns animal cruelty into a type of video game that can be played at the home or office. For more information, CLICK HERE. |
