ANIMAL RIGHTS FOUNDATION OF FLORIDA PLANS JAPAN DOLPHIN DAY PROTEST FOR OCTOBER 8, 2005 | ||||
Fishermen in Japan kill thousands of dolphins and small whales every year for their meat. Marine parks support the hunts by buying live dolphins to be used in captive displays. During the drive hunts between October 2004 and March 2005, 1,165 dolphins were slaughtered and 78 dolphins were captured and sold to marine parks and aquariums.
Animal Rights Foundation of Florida, along with other animal rights organizations, are protesting the slaughter on October 8th to urge Japanese authorities to put an end to this abhorrent atrocity. Please join ARFF in Miami (Florida’s only Japanese consulate) on October 8th at noon to send a message to the Japanese authorities that this will not be tolerated. For more information, including directions to the Consulate-General of Japan, http://animalrightsflorida.org/Calendar.html and scroll down to the section entitled Japan Dolphin Day: Protest the Slaughter. Please contact Japanese Ambassador Ryozo Kato and politely tell him that this dolphin slaughter must stop. Ryozo Kato 2520 Massachusetts Avenue, NW Washington D.C. 20008 202-238-6700 |
