TAMPA THEATRE PLANS TO DISPLAY LIVE PENGUINS | ||||
Great news!!!!! The Tampa Theatre has abandoned its plan to display live penguins to advertise a new film entitled “The March of the Penguins,” which will depict penguins in their natural habitat. Many wonderful activists contacted Tampa Theatre and told them how paradoxical it is to use caged penguins in the congested downtown area of a big city in Florida to promote a film depicting penguins running freely in the natural habitat. Thank you for all of your hard work!! Unfortunately, the Tampa Theatre President/CEO John Bell cited a "scheduling conflict" with SeaWorld for his decision to abandon the penguin display plan. One of two theories is correct: (1) John Bell acquiesed due to the outrage of the animal rights community but refuses to admit this, in which case he needs to be honest and admit the penguin display is a horrible idea and confirm that he cancelled it because of the enormous reaction from the animal rights community, or (2) John Bell did in fact cancel the display because of a scheduling conflict, in which case he should realize how cruel the penguin display idea was and make plans to prohibit the use of live animals in any type of display. Please contact John Bell, President/CEO of the Tampa Theatre and thank him for cancelling the penguin display, but politely inform him of the cruelty of such displays and ask him to create a policy prohibiting the use of animals in any kind of display. John Bell needs to be reminded that animals are not ours to exploit.
