Battle: a war cry.

So, the school year has started. We're all going to school, taking classes, doing homework, hanging out with our friends. Hopefully, trying to have a good time with it (I'm a firm believer in having a good time in the Lord). Has anybody stopped for a second to have a look about at the people of your school? Chances are, unless it's a Christian school, the whole place is full of sin and wickedness. No, I take that back: Christian schools are far from exempt; I used to attend one and I've seen that there is much to be done there too. The point is, there is a spiritual battle raging within our schools today.

Now, this may seem an obvious fact, but is it really? How often, while you go between classes or sit down for lunch, has it even crossed your mind that (assuming you're a Christian), you've dedicated yourself as a warrior for the Lord? That every day you are facing challenges that force you to decide: are you going to act like everyone else or are you going to take a stand for your Savior and your Master? We are in a place where sin runs rampant and Satan is winning battles left and right, and what do most of us do? We sit down, we do our schoolwork, we mind our own business and we try not to rock the boat. Maybe you're even a nice person, much nicer than the non-Christians at your school. So what? How many times have you even tried to share the gospel in your school?

Let's not kid ourselves with nice-sounding phrases and ideals about God having the final victory and always winning. In most schools, including my own, Satan does just about whatever he wants to do, because we will not stand up to him. Even if people know you are a Christian and go to church… what is that worth? I know many people who go to church on Sundays and Wednesdays, but the moment they enter that school they are exactly the same as everybody else. What ever happened to evangelism? What ever happened to honor, to taking your stand in the spiritual battlefield and flatly saying "No! The devil will not win out in my school: not if I have anything to say about it. Not if God has anything to say about it!" When do we stop sitting on our butts, going to church to talk about God and Jesus and how sweet His salvation is, and then going to school and practically forgetting we are Christians? If Christ's salvation is truly so sweet, if you really do love Him and understand how sinful you are and how amazing His love for you is, you will share it. I know for a fact that when I truly understand Christ's salvation, when I see it for what it is, I can hardly help myself: I must tell somebody about it or I feel like I'm going to burst. "His word in my heart is like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in: indeed I cannot!" (Jeremiah 20:9).

So, my brothers and sisters in Christ, I beg you, I implore you, to stand up and fight: no more losing battles because we are too afraid of what people will say if we stand! No longer should we see lost opportunities to share the Gospel because somebody didn't feel like it, was afraid of losing a precious reputation, feared going out and starting a battle. The Holy Spirit will give us the words to say if we ask Him for battle and then charge in. Let us fight! I, for one, will not sit idly while my entire school goes to hell- it is time to do something about it!

My hand grows eager upon my sword
