Anthor interview!! www.thedecoded.com
How long have you guys been together and how'd it start? We've been together for 3 and 1/2 years. Theres a few different ways to explain how the band started but we'll go with the easy version. Me and Justin started jammin in spring of 2002. We had some songs and were looking for a bass player. Our friend Mike (now in a band called ) We played our first show on July 25th, 2005, opening for Shop 11 Phoenix. We then proceeded to played Cornerstone and other festivals, and have shared the stage with such acts as The Scarred, One-21, The Culprits, Flatfoot56, Calibretto, Mercury Radio Theater, Vocal Riot, and more. We also constantly played dozens of shows with good friends from the Pittsburgh area and surrounding states including The Last Hope, The Ranks, Arson D'ecor, FBS, and Dead Bury Dead. Mike left spring of 2003 and Dylan (The Ranks/The Last Hope) took his spot temporarily until Doug joined in August. How did the tour go or is it still going? MATT: Tour was cool. We had a lot of fun. We toured with an amazing band called Arson D'ecor and it was so much fun to hang out with those guys. We also got to see our great friends, Revolution Radio (used to be Circle475) in North Carolina. Its not still going (sadly) but I had a blast. I love the road. Doug: Agreed. What been happening since the Rejected Record days? Well, after releasing "Last Breath of Freedom" we left Rejected Records and just sorta did it ourselves. We still love Tanner though, he helped us out on our tour that year and is just a cool guy. We recently released a Split CD with this summers Tour-Mates, Arson D'ecor. Whats the goal of the band? To express ourselves and our beliefs thru what we believe. Since we all have strong beliefs in God and Jesus Christ, those tend to mix and we want people to hear the gospel as well, without it being shoved down their throats, but in a way that they can relate to as well. Why stand up for Christ? Do you get alot of problems being christian? Because we believe in him as our Lord and Savior. We've had some problems in the past, but once our name started to reach beyond the Tri-State area, things eased up. We still get some scoffs every now and then, but we're real with the kids at shows too, and they tend to respect that. Give them respect and they'll give it right back. Yall have an add for a new guitar player or bassist, it says what you have be to be in the band.Whats a good reason why someone should join your band? MATT : Because its freakin awesome! haha, seriously though, for me being in this is awesome. Being in front of the crowd and watching them jump around, scream along, mosh and just have a great time is so great to see. You also get to do alot of different things, go to alot of different environments and meet alot of intersting people. DOUG: To be in The Decoded...is kind of like Rocky 2...where apollo creed wants a rematch with rocky, but old rocky's strong. Thats why you should be in a band. MATT: ...i have nothing to say to that. At all. I'm speechless. wow. Anything you wanna promote? MATT: Sure i guess. We have some T-shirts for sale and a new Split CD featuring our very good friends, Arson D'ecor. I think thats it though. DOUG: I personally put this. We'd like to promote Positivity in the scene. Doesn't matter what kind of music you listen to or how you look...let's all be brothers and sisters in the scene. The scene was built on different opinions and the respect for that. That is all MATT: I guess also I'd like to just tell people to look around out there. There are so many awesome bands out there waiting to be found...so go find them. BACK |
