ULFChris:First, introduce the band. My Son Cid: Im John and i play bass, Chris plays lead guitar, Kirk does lead vocals, and Scott plays drums. We are still looking for a permanent drummer so Scott can move over to rythem guitar. ULFChris: How long have you guys been together and how did it start? My Son Cid: Well the band originally started in 2002 but has gone under a lot of different member changes for tons of different reasons. Some for bad things going on between members but mostly just people moving on to where they felt called in life. But this line-up has been together for about 3 months now. Anything else before is good history and times for us but this is who the band is now and we're a whole new entity. ULFChris: What is yalls main goal? MSC: Our main goal is to reflect Jesus' teachings and our beliefs through our music. A lot of people in the punk scene have a distorted view on what Christianity is really all about because they see TV evangelist like Pat Robertson or men like Jerry Falwell who we believe greatly twist meaning of verses and neglect some of the most basic and important teachings of Jesus. We want to show a better side of christianity to those whose existance is ignored by the church through personal means. It has never been a main lyrical subject for us though we do tackle it every once in a while. but mainly we talk about social issues that we see plaguing both individuals in society and society as a whole. ULFChris: What does this band mean to you? MSC: This band means everything to me. It means the path that God has layed before me. It means a voice to say what i am thinking and believe. It means hope. Im not really sure if that is what you are looking for but thats what i feel when i think about MySonCid. ULF Chris: Any cool stories? MSC: When we first started we used to try and get a stuffed animal for every city we played in but that didnt end up working so well. Uhm, at this festival called "YeshuaFest" in Mansfield, Ohio our former drummer Andy was driving his van filled with people and we almost drove over this cliff cuz it was so dark and foggy out and the roads were icy. After a show with SideWalkSlam we went behind the strip mall and made some "bombs" with 2liters, tin foil, and "the works" toilet bowl cleaner. it was about 2am and the police helicopter kept flying in circles around us so we had to take off. ULF Chris: Whats going on with the band now?I belive yall have a demo out or something? M.S.C: Well since the major overhaul in the band (me and chris no longer singing and kirk putting down his guitar to just handle lead vocals and scott joining to fill in on drums) we have been writing new songs and gigging out. we have about 6 or 7 songs recorded that we arent sure if we are going to put out an EP or just wait and do a full lenght, but we'll know that for sure soon. You can listen/download 4 tracks off of our myspace (www.myspace.com/mysoncid). But thats really all we're doing, oh! besides looking for a permanent drummer!!!! ULF Chris: Last Words? M.S.C.:Just thanks for interviewing us and thanks to all the people who've been giving us tons of support and encouragement lately. We hope to have the full length out as soon as possible and possible an EP to pass the time. Remember that things in this world go beyond ourselves so anyway we can help anyone else is golden. lets take care of our brothers and sisters in this world! And check us out on www.mysoncid.com and www.myspace.com/mysoncid ULFChris:Thanx agian for doing this ,luv you guys keep rockin'! M.S.C.: no problem man. thanks for thinking we're good enough to interview! BACK |
