I was once asked, when in charge of Nashville Pagan Teens, "Why is Nashville Pagan Teens called 'Pagan', when we're all Wiccan?"
I replied that I didn't just want to label the NPT branch a Wiccan branch. I believed that there were too many Wiccan specific branches and that we were open for all Pagan teen, not just one aspect. Hense why we are called "United Pagan Teens".
About United Pagan Teens United Pagan Teens is a relatively new idea sprouting from a group that was formed in July of 2004. This group was set in place because I was frustrated that all of the Pagan-friendly groups out there were for adults or little kids. There were also a few for homeschoolers. As a normal, public school attending Pagan teen, I was more or less outraged. Where I grew up Christian youth groups were very popular, and I felt left out. I attended meetings and circles for Pagan adults, but I was only met with the "you are but a child, rebelling against society" outlook. And so Nashville Pagan Teens was born. The group started off as a Yahoo! group, and then turned into an offline group. Unfortunately, I moved to Indiana in March of 2005, so NPT was temporarily shut down. Lilith, a close friend of mine whom I met through NPT, took over and is now in charge of the branch. While in Indiana I knew that I had to start forming another Pagan teen branch. I surfed across the Covenant of the Goddess webpage one day and I knew that I wanted to run something like that for teens. With that thought, I quickly started putting the website together. What IS United Pagan Teens, exactly? United Pagan Teens is a network of offline Pagan teen groups that provides safe atmospheres for teens to learn, participate in teen organized and ran circles, rituals, and other celebrations. What are the branches? Well, the branches are locally ran Pagan Teen groups that are under the close supervision of the UPT Council. All branches are started off the same way, the UPT Council sends the Administrator of the branch information about how to start the branch online and then move it offline, how to run a smooth and effective introduction meeting, and more. The UPT Council understands that most teens have never been in a Pagan group atmosphere, so the Administrators are walked through everything at the beginning. Eventually, after the Administrator learns how to do everything efficiently in his or her branch, they are allowed to be more liberal with their plannings. For More Information About Joining UPT...
