M mentions several times that American men are idiots and do not know how to treat women or have affiars for that matter. I don't have a lot of personal experience, but it does seem that men here are awful affraid to take that step into marriage. Maybe it is because of the fear of divorce...so many are abused in divorce court by vindictive women...that they are afraid to even consider that they have found the woman they were meant for.
Of course, I am not sure I'd want to be with a European man who had a wife and a string of lovers behind him as well...not only because of diseases, but just because it would seem odd (my American woman coming out in me I guess). I'd be afraid I'd fall in love and go nutty wanting him for myself.
