History of The Dragonballs

The Dragonballs are magical balls with stars on them. If you are new to Dragonball-Z then you should listen carefully. These seven starred balls are collected by the characters of DBZ. When all seven are collected you can summon the Eternal dragon. The Eternal Dragon of Earth is called Shenlong and the Eternal Dragon of Namek is called Porunga. The keepers of the dragonballs are: King Kame(Kame and then later on Dende)of Earth and Guru of Namek.

Within the 3 Dragonball series we are introduced to 3 different kinds of Dragonballs. In Dragonball, we only see the Earth Dragonballs. In Dragonball-Z we see both the Earth and are introduced to the much larger and more powerful Namekian Dragonballs. Both these kinds spread out on the planet they are used on. Finally, in Dragonball-GT, right in the beginning we are introduced to the Black Star Dragonballs, that were created by the previous guardian of Earth, but sepearate all over the universe and if not collected within a year, destroy the planet on which the wish was made(used to turn Son-Goku into a child by Pilaf)

During Dragonball, Dragonball-Z, and Dragonball-GT the main focus of the show is to collect the seven dragonballs to make various wishes. Aslong as the wish is within the power of the eternal dragon it can be granted. Wishes like immortality, revival, new planets, transportation and the such have been made throughout all the series. On the average the villians of the show wish for supreme rule of the world or for immortality and the good guys wish for their friends to be brought back from the dead or transportation from a dieing planet to another planet or to do numerous other things. The only bad guy who ever got the wish for immortality granted was Garlic Jr. Garlic Jr. became immortal, but afterwards was sucked into a Dead Zone that he created.

The Earth's Eternal Dragon, Shenlong can grant only one wish. The only circumstance which would allow him to grant three wishes would be if he were summoned by the King Kame of Earth, and that only occured once where Dende summoned him. The Namekian Eternal Dragon, Porunga can grant three wishes. The catch with this dragon is that you have to say the password,"Porunga!", and the wish has to be made in the native language of Namekian.

To wish someone back from the dead is a popular wish and most characters have been wished from the dead at least one time or another. A dragon can only wish a specific person back from the dead one time, after that they must be wished back by another dragon. (Note: the Namekian Dragonballs can wish a person back numerous times from the dead) After a planet is destroyed and a dragon restored the memory is erased and therefore the dragon does not remember the person. Immortality is a popular wish for the bad guys but only Garlic Jr. obtained this. During the Frieza Saga the wish was made by the Earth dragon to restore life to all those killed by Frieza. This action brought back Guru, keeper of the Namek dragonballs, who then made the Namek dragon reappear with one wish left. The wish with the Namek dragon was made to transport everybody on Namek, except for Frieza and Goku, to the planet Earth.

Now, the eternal dragon has a limit on power. It has been tried, but no dragon has the ability to grant a wish for the death of someone. It was tried to wish the coming Saiyans dead and to wish Frieza dead.

The Nameks originated the dragonballs on the home planet of Namek. Guru, the eldest Namek, created them. A pretty complicated story is the story of son of Katattsu. For more information visit Hist.of Nameks. Son of Katattsu arrived on Earth eon's ago. When he arrived on Earth he created the magical dragonballs. Eventually after waiting around his spaceship he got tired and left out for the world. In the world he witnessed great pain and evil. Eventually, the evil in son of Katattsu grew great and he seperated. One side evil, Piccolo Daimaou, the other good Kame-Samma(King Kame Guardian of Earth and dragonballs)

If the keeper of the dragonballs dies the dragonballs turn to stone. When Guru died, the dragonballs turned to stone. When he was restored and was ability to make a new keeper of the dragonballs when he died again they didn't turn to stone because there was a new keeper. Since Piccolo and Kame are actually a seperated whole, if Piccolo dies so does Kame and therefore the Dragonballs turn to stone again.

After a wish is made wish the Earth dragonballs become dormant for a time period of exactly 365 days. Also after the wish is made they seperate all over the world where they lay dormant for the time period, where after that they can be used again. After a wish is made with the Namekian dragonballs, they too spread all over the planet but they only lie dormant for 180 days.

Something that I will soon be getting more info. on is Dragonball-GT. The difference with GT(Grand Tour)is instead of looking for Dragonballs on just one planet they look for them all over the universe, hence Grand Tour. I'll have more info. ready to post within the coming weeks.
