Indonesia charges Maluku Christian leader with subversion
Indonesian prosecutors have charged the leader of a Christian separatist group in the
troubled Maluku islands with subversion.
Alex Manuputty -- who heads a faction of the small separatist movement, the South
Maluku Republic -- faces a possible sentence of life imprisonment if convicted.
He denies all wrongdoing,
Mr Manuputty was arrested in April shortly before his followers planned to raise an
independence flag in the regional capital, Ambon.
The case is being heard in the North Jakarta district court.
