Work Mechanism of State of Emergency Authorities in Maluku to
be Restructured
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta :The Indonesian government is to immediately restructure
the work mechanism of the of civil state of emergency authorities, military chief and
police chief in Maluku, according to Coordinating Minister for Political and Security
Affairs Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
He made this statement after giving a speech at the "Indonesian Next" conference
that was held at the JW Marriott Hotel in Jakarta on Wednesday afternoon (22/5).
As reported earlier, Yudhoyono had complained of lack of security coordination
between security forces and local authorities in Maluku.
This led to a clash between troops of the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the National
Police (Polri).
The government is still considering what form the restructuring will take.
"When dealing with the authority of civil emergency state, military and police chief of
Maluku, we need to consider whether a single command structure is really
necessary. This way, there won't be any misunderstanding between the TNI and
