[ Vinnie ]

Vinnie. I don't know how many others still remember or know how I came to be known as Vinnie. It was in grade 5. I just switched schools. There was another Vincent. That was Vince. So I was Vinnie. That must be one of the shortest stories I've ever written.

Saint's Names
Vincent (Vincente, Vincenzo)
Feast Day: September 27
Meaning: Conquering
Saint & Patronage: Saint Vincent de Paul developed a special concern for the poor after giving the Sacraments to a dying peasant. He cared for slaves, prostitutes, war victims, and the destitute.

Okay, so back to me. Right now (somewhere around mid-august '03) I'm enjoying the final weeks of my 4 month summer off. I graduated from Waterloo (yes, yes, i know) in April with a B.Sc. in Biology and a speciailization in Animal Physiology, and will be starting my M.Sc. with the GIDRU at Queen's University (yay me). I'm proud of that. I don't think I'm brilliant academically by any means. But the way I look at it, 5 years for high school, and 4 years for a Bachelors with honours is par for the course, so at least I'm not behind in the game of life (at least not in the academics department).

With regards to things that I enjoy, 2 that immediately come to mind are music and foosball (though at this point in my life i've come to appreciate a lot more things so a complete list is one of those things that might never be, but i see that as a good sign).

With regards to music that I'm partial towards, well, I guess if I had to pick a genre it would be along the lines of punk and ska, but really, I like music from all different genres. I'm more about individual songs. I also like electronic music, but I'm not one of those who can necessarily distinguish between the umpteen classifications. Though I have found that i do thoroughly enjoy happy hardcore, techno, ambient, drum n bass, and jungle. And at times minimalist house. I guess the other genres that are up there in my book are classical and jazz, along with any other music you can just lounge too. I've always been a big fan of Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald. Not being particularly good at any one instrument I've wanted to learn to scat for a while now too. Though It's not one of those things I guess there are too many places that'll teach you. Practicing helps, but sometimes it's hard without any accompaniment.

How you doin'?
