The beginning homeschooling parent is often initially overwhelmed by the responsibility of educating a child.  There are several excellent books recommended by our members that give insight into the different approaches and philosophies of homeschooling.

John Holt is the pioneer unschooler.  Anything he has written is worth a read.  His books include:

This title is out of print.  The Moores have written several successful books on homeschooling over the last three decades.
