"Why Join the Guild?"
Reasons for Membership
Dues are $5 a term, except Summer.

Membership benefits:

- A reduced workshop fee. In general, workshops cost community members $5, and guild members $4.  When the workshop fee is higher, guild members pay 20 - 25 % less than community members.

- Access to guild field trips.  We've been to nearly a dozen differnt farms - from alpacas to shetland sheep.  And several breeders have offered to invite us to their shearings (we may even get to help!).  We also trek all over the Northwest, when given the chance - to fiber shops near Portland, or the NwRSA conference coming to Salem this June.

- Members can run for office. Holding a volunteer position looks wonderful on scholarship applications and resumes.  It also provides the opportunity to make a difference on campus and make contacts throughout the fiber arts world.  The Guild and its officers have so far been featured in Handwoven Magazine, the Register-Guard, the Oregon Daily Emerald, The Daily Collegian, The Los Angeles Loyolan, The Daily Gamecock, Campus Circle.net, the Clarkson Integrator, and Echo Online. Which looks good on a resume.  For more info, check the Guild Publicity page.

- Members can participate in guild social programs. We work on many volunteer projects, from preemie baby hats to Caps for Kids.  Guild members can make a difference in the community by volunteering.

- Members will automatically belong to ANWG (the Association of Northwest Weavers' Guilds) and NrWSA (Northwest Regional Spinner's Association); and can therefore use HGA (Handweavers Guilds of America) resources and go to regional events.

- Members can borrow books and equipment from the
Guild Library and Equipment Program

Finally, there is the bare fact that dues are what fund the guild.

Dues pay for the supplies for our Charity knitting projects, the CD spindles we teach beginning spinners on, the dyes and other materials we use for workshops, the wool we use for our Spinning Bees, and much more.
