Балдырған (‘bal-der-gun’), which means ‘happy children’, is a foster care project initiated by Under One Roof. Under One Roof is a public fund organization registered in the Republic of Kazakstan since 2003. They currently have programs for pensioners and for large families in Almaty city.

 

    The goal of Балдырған is to place orphans with complete and healthy foster families living under one roof so that they will receive the love and nurture that they deserve. The home where one of these families will live in is called a House of Love.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Our Vision

    Our vision is to establish a self-sufficient community on a 8-hectar piece of land which is located ten minutes away from Almaty City. We plan to build at least ten 5- or 6-bedroom cottages, each unique and individually built only when there is a foster family and sufficient orphans to occupy it.

 

    There will also be a fruit and vegetable patch, and a greenhouse which will enable these families to be self-sufficient. Other amenities will include a library, computer center, a theatre and a recreational center.

 

    In future, we will also establish some form of co-operatives which will provide these families with some income as well as to sustain the Village.
