“Lunch for Students”

5 students in Chilik gets help to buy lunch in school.

   A school is a place where a child receives an education. When we think about kids in school we often only think about what they are receiving academically. Are they getting the knowledge they need? Is the school helping my child to learn properly?

    What we often overlook is that these children have needs other than academic ones. Just like us, they need to eat too. Unfortunately many children in school cannot afford to pay for their lunch.

    When UOR heard about this recently, we decided to help some of these children. For a start, we are helping five elementary school children in Chilik between grades one and four buy their lunch everyday, from Monday to Saturday. A week’s lunch cost a mere $2.50 USD (about S$4). Most of us typically spent twice or thrice as much on one meal alone.
