Some Stuff You'll See: Ottawa U (Canada's University), Rideau Canal, Dow's Lake, Carlton U (Canada's Capital University), Fletcher Wildlife Garden, The Glebe, Brown's Inlet, Lansdowne Park, a whole buch of crazy shit and much much more!
Directions:
Really nice loop to take after a hard day at the office. Starts at Ottawa U hit up the canal's east side and boot down all the way to the edge of Carlton U. You'll know when you hit Carlton from the heavy smell of pot in the air. Cross at the Ecluse Hartwell locks right by Carlton and head back around the other side along the canal through Fletchers Wildlife Garden around the other side of Dow's Lake. Continue down the canal along the edge of The Glebe and past Lansdowne Park (the big stadium) keep going until you hit the Somerset Pedestrian Bridge (The greatest bridges ever constructed). Cross it and you're back where you started and ready to go home to a good ol' meal of steak-n'-beans.
*If you really want to be cool continue down the canal after the Somerset Bridge towards the Ottawa River. The path will take you to the end of the canal along the base of Parliament Hill next to the river. After you pass West Block you can climb back up behind Parliament and exit at Wellington St. where you can head back. Awesome way to end an evening ride.
