Possessions
Perhaps one of the most well known movies about the paranormal ever released is The Exorcist.  In the film, Linda Blair plays a young woman who becomes possessed by the devil himself.  An exorcism is thenperformed to purge the hell spawn from her body.  That was fiction, a movie created by Hollywood to frighten us.  However, real-life exorcisms are still performed to this day.  There are many groups in America alone that specialize in this practice.  But what is it that these experts get rid of?  Is it simply a mental disorder that plagues those thought to be possessed, or is the real world just as strange as fiction?
When a person first begins to think that they are possessed by some entity, it begins, typically, with hearing voices in their head.  It is no wonder then, why so many medical professionals and paranormal investigators look first to the possibility of schizophrenia.  These voices can do anything from simply belittling the victim, to telling them what and when they can eat. Accompanied by the voices, people may begin to take on odd characteristics.  The person then may eventually develop periods of time where they completely become another person, acting out in ways that are not typical of their behavior.  During these spells, the person will later claim that they simply blacked-out, and have no recollection of the events that had transpired.
If the possession is in fact caused by a demon or the like, it will become apparent quickly.  The person's behavior will often swing to that of a malicious nature.
Once it is ruled out that the occurrences are not the result of a mental disability, investigators will then attempt to determine exactly what is causing the possession.  It is commonly thought that the only time a possession takes place is when the devil or a demon takes control of a person's life.  These cases though are rare.  More often than not, a possession is caused by a spirit of a once living person.  This happens in much the same manner as it would if a medium were channeling the spirit, only when it occurs in a possession case, it is against the person' will.
Often times performing an aura cleansing on the person suffering will relive the problem.  But there are times when holy intervention is needed.  It's times like these that you contact a professional.  Call up your clergy and let them know that you need a young priest and an old priest, stat.
