Santos de los Angeles, after high school volunteered in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam war, upon his Honorable discharge he completed his education at the prestigious Art Center of Design in Pasadena, CA.

After finishing  school, he immediately accepted a position with the Los Angeles Times as a Graphic Illustrator.

During a family visit to New Mexico, Santos and his wife Juanita decided to return  to New Mexico.

For the first time in his life Santos was able to devote steady hours to further develop his artistic talents.

Southwestern furniture design served as a financial base which allowed him to work using other mediums, this allowed him to concentrate in designing and creating his one of a kind award winning metal works with designs that move him.

His background as a graphic designer, has enabled him to use these skills and create an art form that combines a contemporary flare yet grounded in centuries of New Mexican Tinsmithing.

While living in Europe, the Artist was exposed to Leather Repousse.  He acquired general Repousse techniques. Now after many years of Metal crafting, once again the Artist has been creating one of a kind traditional aRepousse, utilizing this time, the combination of different metals.

The Artist is a Professor at TVI Emeritus Academy, where he also dedicates time to teach.  Classes taught are, Newmexican Tinwork and Repousse at beginners and advance levels

The Artist is currently working on projects and teaching classes in Newmexican Tinwork and  Repousse,  at his Sipasa Studio.
