OUR WORSHIP: WHAT
WE BELIEVE AND WHY

Our worship is based on the Bible. Hopefully this page will provide you with some information about our church and explain the scriptural reasons for the way we worship God.

The United Pentecostal Church of Bay Point is a Bible Church.

By this we mean we take the written Word of God to be our supreme authority for life, faith and confession. We also make the Word of God our rule for church government. Here at UPC of Bay Point the Word of God is taught boldly, without apology and without compromise.

An Apostolic Church

We believe in the fullness of the Holy Spirit today as the Apostles did in the Book of Acts. Acts 2:1-4, 38-39

A Faith Church

We believe that faith is the most important factor in the believer's life. It is by faith in the Word of God and obedience to it, that we mature and receive all that God has promised us. Faith in God's Word is taught diligently as a daily standard for every believer. Hebrews 11:6

About Our Church

Some visitors may wonder why we do the things we do in worship, such as standing up to praise the Lord, raising our hands and clapping our hands. Why do we dance and speak with other tongues by the Holy Spirit? All of these activities are found in the Old and New Testaments. We take this to be the Bible Pattern of worship. Here are some scripture references to help you understand:

Why We Worship God

Give unto the Lord the glory due unto His Name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. Psalms 29:2

Let the people praise thee O God: let all the people praise thee. Psalms 67:3

We Clap Our Hands and Give Praise With a Loud Voice

O clap your hands all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph. Psalms 47:1

Why We Lift Our Hands

Thus I will bless thee while I live; I will lift up my hands in thy Name. Psalms 63:4

Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless the Lord. Psalms 134:2

I will therefore, that men pray everywhere lift up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. 1 Timothy 2:8

Why Musical Instruments?

Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet: praise Him with psaltery and harp. Praise Him with the timbrel and dance: praise Him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise Him upon the loud cymbals: praise Him upon the high sounding cymbals. Psalms 150:3-5

Why We Dance

Let them praise His Name in the dance: let them sing praises unto Him with the timbrel and harp. Psalms 149:3

Why We Worship In This Way

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in Spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth. John 4:23-24
