I have always said that the net if a very small place...This page goes to prove my therory. A very long time ago a close friend on the internet sent me the following poem in an email.
I instantly fell in love with the words because of their truth.
About a year later I met a talented man that put music to them and sung it. Funny I didn't wear out my *realplayer* with how many times I played it. I was always on the search for the author as I had seen it with many *authors* attached.
Smiling..now it has come full circle.
I have met the man that wrote the original..TT Tigger
HERE ARE HIS WORDS
"It was written before I had met very many people from on line.
The following is how the original was handed out.
Even the mis-spelling of the word "cann't" was on all that I passed out and even after pointed out, I decided not to change it and
continued to give it out that way.
............ Well, I did pass em out and very much to my own amazement, so many of them seemed to open up to me. Even other guys admitted to me that they felt the same way.
It was really sort of a touching experience..........
I do not look for fame and I wrote it to share.
The first copies of it were handed out at a Chat Party in Cleveland Ohio for a group who had gathered for a first meeting from the Ohio Room on prodigy. I also passed out about 150 copies at a gathering in Las Vegas in October of 95."
Friends
Without Faces

We sit and we type, and we stare at our screens,
We all have to wonder, what this possibly means.
With our mouse we roam, through the rooms in a maze,
Looking for something or someone, as we sit in a daze.
We chat with each other, we type all our woes,
Small groups we do form, and gang up on our foes.
We wait for somebody, to type out our name,
We want recognition, but it is always the same.
We give kisses and hugs, and sometimes flirt,
In IM's we chat deeply, and reveal why we hurt.
We do form some friendships - but - why we don't know,
But some of these friendships, will flourish and grow.
Why it is on screen, we can be so bold,
Telling our secrets, that have never been told.
Why is it we share, the thoughts in our mind,
With those we cann't see, as though we were blind.
The answer is simple, it's as clear as a bell.
We all have our problems, and need someone to tell.
We can't tell "real" people, but tell someone we must,
So we turn on the computer, and to those we can trust.
Even though it is crazy, the truth still remains,
They are "Friends Without Faces", and odd little names.

MORE FROM TT TIGGER..........
"I wrote this poem because of some of the reactions I heard from people when they saw someone for the first time at the parties. Some comments were kind of negative and I had
to wonder if it was a good idea that they even met.
It took away from what had been built on screen."
Friendships
The chat parties have succeeded,
a chance for all to meet
The purpose of it was well served,
the circle is now complete
We all started out alone,
on the puter in a room
Thru the months which lay behind,
we have typed our joys and gloom
In time, we all had someone
though faceless and unseen
And soon we felt it necessary
to meet them off the screen
With a lot of apprehension
and doubt within our mind
We ventured to these parties
a screen friend, we would find
We knew them on the inside
though we had never seen their shell
We had within our minds a vision
that to them we would not tell
If we were disappointed,
the fault is all our own
We should never judge ones looks
from seeds of friendship sewn
Qualities we are drawn to
when we chat with them on screen
Are still within that person,
inside the body we have now seen
Their looks are unimportant,
nor is the color of their hair
The beauty is in the bonding
and in the private thoughts we share
What is the most essential,
to ourselves we must be true
Is it the picture on the inside
or the frame we never knew
The most important factor,
which everyone surely knows
It is the strength within the fabric
and not the color of the clothes
So if you should meet
a screen friend you hold dear
Always remember the wrappings
are never quite clear
They may not quite look
as they did on the screen
Please remember that "Friendships"
can be felt and not seen
"The Third poem was written because I got to thinking that more and more time was being spent in front of the screen. It seemed to me that this could start a trend and change our lifestyles. I wondered what else would change in our lives.
Actually wrote it with what I felt was a little humor,
you will have to decide on that."
ON-LINE EVOLUTION
What will happen in the future, no one really knows
Will we all be hermits, and have no need for clothes
Will evolution create a speechless breed, which has no need to talk
Will it lead to shorter legs, because we will have no need to
walk
Will we become a population, which has no need to sleep
So we can sit forever, and chat with thoughts so deep
Through this evolution process, will a chair grow out our ass
Will the world become a jungle, cause there aint time to mow the grass
Will nourishment be obsolete, cept for food of thought and mind
Will our goals in life become - seeking screen friends who are kind
Will houses soon be gone, and where will it all lead
Will we occupy a cubicle, and a computer all we need
Will we give our children names, like LOL or BRB
And will children even exist, if our only sex is "C"
Our futures may be unknown, but of one thing I am sure
If we catch a puter virus, someone will find a cure
None of this will happen, it is written just for jest
No need to fret or worry, so put yer mind at rest
........The other poems came later, usually thru some type of inspiration from who knows where. Each one of them to me has a personal feeling in it but they have not been as well circulated as the original. Although that first poem will always be special to me, my personal favorite is quite honestly the one Titled
"SMILES".
<: (: "SMILES" {: <:
It may seem quite strange
to those non chatters we know
That we have again gathered
for our friendships to grow
Some have come far
and some live quite near
Distance is nothing
to meet those we hold dear
We must ourselves wonder
why we are drawn to this place
Is the purpose for talking,
to friends - face to face
Some will claim its to party
others will say its for fun
But deep in our thoughts,
lie more reasons than one
Perhaps some are lonely
feeling sad or depressed
Is it their way to fly
when shoved from the nest
Some seek a new life
being unfond of the old
The screen allows a new path
for a future to mold
Whatever our reasons
it doesn't matter one bit
If contentment is found
at the computer we'll sit
We all have been given
an opportunity that's rare
Making friends, and to party
and of showing we care
While fantasy to some,
and somewhat real to the rest
Chat has made a difference
our lives have been blessed
So why does it matter
what those "others" might think
Lets all keep on gathering
and perhaps share a drink
Those who think we are crazy
know not what they miss
When on screen - hugs are given
and sometimes a kiss
So when you are asked
why you would travel for miles
Just grin and respond
Because Frowns Become Smiles
"ROMANCE ON-LINE"
Romance on-line is as common as dirt
Its a result of IMs, and how we all flirt
Being lonely and sad, we seek out a kind soul
And try forming a bond, like a diamond from coal
Without using good sense, and emotions unleashed
These romances on-line, can become a violent beast
They can tear at our heart, and do damage so deep
It will destroy certain values, and keep us from sleep
It will give us the view, that all we can trust
Without regard to the chance, the purpose is lust
We all have that desire, for our emotions to share
With one who is loving, and with one who does care
Caution is vital, and must always be used
It will lessen the pain, and keep us unbruised
Remember the diamond, which is formed from black coal
Time was the true factor, in reaching that ultimate goal
Diamonds are precious, and coal we do burn
Knowing the difference, is what we must learn
...And last but not least, Well maybe not least
TT Tigger
We all hope not!!!!! Thanks for sharing!!
"RUMORS"
As time does pass, and all thru the year
I find it amazing, some stories I hear
Rumors hurt many, and not just a few
These stories of fiction, not actually true
Each time they are told, little facts seem to change
But I guess that is normal, its not really strange
They are stories of passion, and stories of lust
They are stories of others, and of who not to trust
They are told with abandon, to those we call friend
With no regard ever given, to the results in the end
From just a small fact, we build a story quite grand
Reputations are ruined, even though its not planned
None are immune, to these stories that spread
Its not always fact, just because its been said
But we need to type something, so why not have fun
And tell stories of others, and of what they have done
The answer is simple, and here is your clue
The next rumor you hear, could be about you
