UPHAM WALKER HOUSE
The story of the Upham-Walker House is the story of Concord, its people, and their place in the history of New Hampshire and the nation.  It is the story of a family which played a major role in the growth of the "city at the bend of the river," and which, as is often the case with New Hampshire families, frequently took part in state and locacl politics.

          THE HOUSE

The Upham-Walker House reflects the aspirations, pretensions, and changing tstes of a prominent Concord family through four generations.  Its history is one of upstanding public service; of solid citizens taking part in the growth and posperity of the city, the state and the country.  The house offers a rare look at the way such a family lived over a period of 147 years.

The present architecural characters of the house is the result of three phases of building:  the original construction in 1831; alterations of the mid-nineteenth century; and changes in the 1890's, with more progressive Greek Revival elements.
