Luke 1:35-38 (KJV) And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. For with God nothing shall be impossible. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her. |

The election of Mary was not to be the subject of God's wife. If you think about it, you will also understand why being both "Mother of God", Jesus and "Wife of God" would be duplistically incorrect and more like Greek mythology instead. No, no, this is strictly about the biggest event to ever take place concerning the destiny of mankind and His relationship to his creator. It is not a fable about a God espoused to a human woman. Are you getting this? Mary did, she responded to the angel: "…so bring it on, what you say shall be; I submit my services to the will of my creator… " (in so many words). This too is why Mary does not have deity status as the phrase "Mother of God" implies. This is why we do not bow down and pray to Mary. Mary eventually dies, just like you and I will some day and she did not rise on the third day, as none of us will either. Mary is absent from her physical body and present with the Lord in spirit as you and I will someday be as well (2 Corinthians 5:6-8). So why are the surrogate services of Mary, Mary so hard to swallow for some, I don't know? I will say, the task was of the highest honor though, I consider the duty a privilege. But Mary was before the translation just plain ole Mary, Mary and afterwards she goes down in history as the greatest mother who ever lived, all because of the favor and power of God to use her in a mighty way. The lesson to us should be, how might I yield my life and members to the work and will of the Lord. No, God only has one begotten son (John 3:18), so no more Mary's will be assigned, but He has many many task open for assignment, like loving your neighbor. When the Holy Spirit comes up on you, will you be willing to make your life, a living sacrifice for the cause? When God ask you to do anything, know that He will empower you to do that thing via the Holy Spirit because absolutely nothing is impossible for God. Teresa Christian, The Bathroom Preacher |

Comments: (All views expressed are those of Teresa Christian alone, and not the views of any other business entity or church affiliation) People are always trying to realize God, but in order to do that; they must first apply human wisdom. God is not an algebraic equation. You cannot really find a common denominator and multiply the numerators and solve for X and find God. Yes, math is an absolute science, but it too cannot explain God. Simply because God chose to enter the material world as we know it, through a material girl called Mary, she is still just plain ole Mary, Mary in the voice of Mary J. Blige the singer. Plain ole Mary became the earth mother of God in the flesh, the Son of God or the manifestation of God in the earth realm or material/physical realm (John 1:1-2 & 14). This is godly double talk and it is only double talk to some. To those without the human converter tool known as the Holy Spirit living on the inside of them, it sounds like double talk. The conversation about Jesus, coming into the world as savior and Son of God and God made flesh is simply unreasonable, incomprehensible (John 1:1-2 & 14). The Word of God was God and the Word of God came into the world and became flesh and bone as you and I are, ummmm hummmmm, Merry, Merry Christmas Y'all, Merry Christmas I said. Only by the Holy Spirit will you ever understand what happened to plain ole Mary Mary, it was very simple indeed (1 Corinthians 2:10-14). Mary was a young healthy girl; espoused to be married to a young level headed man named Joseph. They were common people, but of the lineage of David (Matthew 1:16). She lived an ordinary life, but God looked down on the daughters of Abraham and found favor on plain ole Mary, Mary. He did not select her because she was the fairest in all the land either. It wasn't her sharp purple leather pant suit and fancy shoes and hair that appealed to Him either (1 Peter 3:2-7). He did not pick her because her father was wealthy either and she would be able to provide for His son. I think, to demonstrate her surrogate quality, God selected her because she was already planning marriage to another; She was family oriented and not career-minded if you will |
