Lift requirements:
Squat:
1. Spotter can help get the lifter off the rack then must let go for the actual lift.
2. Spotters can help the lifter back to the rack after the judge approves the repetition.
3. Lifter must go down so that the top of the thigh is parallel to the ground and return to a standing position without help or extra steps.
4. If a lifter gets stuck in a vulnerable position...back real flat...they issue a rack call.

Bench Press:
1. Spotter may assist the lifter off and back onto the rack...but may not touch the lifter or the bar during the actual lift.
2. Lifter must lower the bar under control...touch the chest...and then return to a arms locked out position...before racking the bar.
3. The lifter must not go from the rack to the chest...there must be a pause...showing control..then begin the lift.
4. Feet must remain on the floor.
5. Buttocks must remain on the bench.

Deadlift:
1. Lifter receives no help from a spotter.
2. Raise the bar from the floor to a completely erect position...without any stopping.
3. You may not hitch..."shimmey" the bar up the body.
4. It must be a non-stop movement...but if you do stop...you may not lower the bar to reload.
5. You must show control of the weight up top...by leaning 1" back past the vertically erect position...then you must lower the weight under control.
6. Do not drop the weight to the floor from higher than the knee.
7. If the judges see you with straight legs..and the bar has not left the floor..they may issue a rack call.
Meet rules are designed to provide all lifters with a "level playing field" but we are sensitive to the fact that many of the lifters in our meet will be competing for the first time.  With this in mind...our judges are instructed to be patient, consistent and make this a learning experience.  This meet is not sanctioned by any powerlifting organization.
Meet Rules:
1. Lifters must wear belts for the deadlift and squat.
2. Order of lifts: Squat, bench, deadlift
3. No hooks allowed on for the deadlift.
4. The judges word/ruling is final(unless a video replay proves otherwise)
5. Suits which enhance a lifter's performance are not allowed.
6. Performance enhancing drugs are not allowed.
7. Weight classes-starting at the 125 or below weight class...there is a total of anywhere from 12-14 classess...depending on numbers and distribution of lifters.
***If you compete in the 135 pound class...anyone who weighs 130-139 will be in your weight class.
8. Awards for underclass lifters are based on total poundages within your weightclass.
9. Seniors are competing against each other based on power index and total poundage.
10. Most Valuable Lifter- Best Power index for underclass lifter.
11. Top five in each class receive awards
*Medals for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and ribbons for 4th and 5th.
12. Each lifter gets three attempts at each lift.
