PREPARATORY SCHOOL
Rizal Hall, Padre Faura, Manila
Here, our burning passion for excellence began,
Kindled by a faculty that was second to none.
Here, the spirit of the "Prep" lives forever;
Here, springs the hope that we will always remember.
Here, let the world know that for a brief period of time,
Young men and women dared to dream dreams sublime.
The U P Preparatory High School was established through the initiative of Dr Antonio Isidro, Vice President for Academic Affairs, who was concurrently Dean of the College of Education and Director of the University Extension Division. On April 2, 1954, the Board of Regents authorized President Vidal A Tan to open a first-class high school in Manila. It was to be a pioneering high school with a curriculum that emphasized science, mathematics and languages combined with training in leadership and civic consciousness. It became the forerunner of advanced high school curricula in the Philippines. One year after its transfer to the Diliman Campus, U P Preparatory School was merged with
U P High School to become the U P High-Preparatory School in 1973, and thence the University High School in 1974. In 1975, the high school was merged with the U P Elementary School to become the U P Integrated School.
Dedicated this 3rd day of January 2004
in celebration of the school’s 50th year of founding.
