Down the Drain
		I stood there in the shower Time ticked off the clock Minute after minute Deep into the midnight hour All the pain Every last drip Seeped from my insides Dribbled down past my quivering lip And disappeared down the drain Oh what pain it was Stirred for so long on the insides Finally forced out Shower water rinsed the tears from my eyes Still naked Nothing to hide Everybody knows I tried Oh the pain The pain kept so deep on the inside Will it come again? Will it be a reaction? Or a decision? Life and love brings it No matter how hard and for what we're wishin' Standing numb in the shower The pain has ceased I come back into self power I dry myself Rid the pain away Or is it still sitting on the shelf? Still naked Nothing to hide Everybody knows I tried Oh the pain Somebody please take it Here's my heart Gonna break it? The pain is gone for now I often wonder why and how I digress I begin to dress Clothes protect us from the cold Yesterday was yesterday That makes it old It needs to be put away and long forgotten Or so I'm told Old pain New pain It all gets washed away Down the drain And I still carry on Off on my merry way I look forward to another glorious day.
