Nature of the Beast
Simply put,
It's the nature of the beast.

It's why the sun settles in the west
Not the east

It's why people come into your life and give you everything
When you expect it the least
Yet people get torn out of your life
Cut quicker and deeper than the sharpest knife
What's with this nature of the beast?

Aah
The nature of the beast

Life runs its course
We never know what is in its works

Should I smile today
Or wile away in dismay?

Will it be my way?
Its way?
Or the highway?

Will opportunity come towards me
Or turn the other way?

What does it have to say
What will the nature of the beast be today?

Give in
Listen
Fools rush in
Advice given
What thoughts or actions will be forbidden?

Another day is borrowed
By leaving everything for tomorrow

All the troubles
All the heartache
All the sorrow

Who's got the most?
Who's got the least?
What is this nature of the beast?

So misleading
Yet so intriguing

Never a moment goes by
Without cause to
Stop
Pause
Wonder why

Is the nature of the beast
Dictated by a force found high above in the sky?

Or is it determined on earth
With divine rights given at birth?

Tis the nature of the beast
To cause us all to seek
Our own destined path
Having us all survive the chaos
Even a blood bath
Showing us who's the boss
As it pounds us with its relentless wrath

Life's unbound cruelties
Can be found amongst every one
Everywhere
Amongst every city

We must stay strong
We must get along
We must not seek pity
Just endure the nature of the beast as it tries to conquer our cities
Even our amenities

Hope
Faith
Trust
These will be our survival tools
The constants of life
Left to us when we're often made out to be fools

It's the nature of the beast
Who will try to survive the least?

Can't change it
Can only hope to rearrange it

But facts are facts
It is the nature of the beast
And the sun will never settle in the east.
