That Kid
The whisper coming from your shoulder
The world closing in on you
Your bones shaking, as you get older
What the hell happened?

Where did he go?
You know
That pure innocence of before
The ignorance of being young
To be that ignorant again but with a touch of knowledge
How nice

Before sex
Before money
Before lies
Before responsibility

There was that pure fun
He didn't know the difference between his friends
The white one
The black one
The brown one
The yellow one
It did not matter
What mattered was having fun

He believed in everything
He was effected by very little
If there was an argument
He certainly wasn't stuck in the middle

Brutal lies
Conniving humans
He was oblivious
Staying away from the mischievous

To be that kid
Looking back
Wondering why we did what we did
Wishing sometimes knowledge of the real world is what we can lack

Naïve
Innocent
Trusting
Believing
Absorbing
To be that kid again
Not yet smart enough
Or is it dumb enough?
To recognize the harsh realities
And to sin
Where exactly did the madness begin?

Like this poem
Complicated at the beginning
Returning back to simplicity
Away from complexity

To be that kid again
Happy
Calm
Innocent within

Yeah
That'd be great
Instead of this cruel world
And it's bad adult fate
