True, this is not a real venue, but I can truly say I have witnessed one of the most bizarre musical events I have ever seen. When I first heard about the tree burning party, I was pining for some tickets to the Australian Open (I have just returned from the Meredith Music Festival...I couldn't do both). As a poor substitute, I thought, I will stand in a freezing open field in two feet of snow and listen to a band play while I watched the demise of once cherished pagan symbols of the solstice. (I couldn't think of anything more symbolic of my situation upon my return to the northern hemisphere.) Smile and Nod changed my perspective: It's not about bemoaning sad facts that we can not change. It's about the joy and absurdity of the moment.
