HOLY HOLY HOLY
Jan 22,2006
This sermon lasted 3 hours in presentation
Opening readings,Acts 8:23, Rm 3:1-31 magnifying 3:14
Then Heb 12:12-15 "Wherefore" is like the word "therefore" find out what it's there for.
Because the previous verses were about Gods chastisement, corrections, even harsh instructions.
"hands that hang down and feeble knees" are figures of speach about human weakness and sin.
12:13 is an encouragement and a warning.
12:14 is instruction of our service, hope, and goal.
12:15 Describes the percentage from the heart, mind and soul that it takes to remain in the grace of God, because our sin will otherwise work to prevent God from us; he must reject the proud, we must learn what kind of humility it takes to permit his grace further oporation in us. This verse reveals how a root of bitterness springing up will cause an annoyance that will do the opposit of the 1st and second greatest commands.
"bitterness"4088 in the greek, this word means that it is like a poison or a sharp piercing of irration to the feelings. The word "root" is a literal root like plants have. This is saying that there is unseen depths of things in people that can cause irration to others feelings, or, can irrate ones own self at the hearing of Gods corrective instructions. We need to be very aware of this, as it is the makings of getting out from under Gods saving grace. A subtle destructive form of pride and rebellion.
"trouble"1776 means to crowd in or annoy.
This bitterness root in people can infect many others. We need to bring out this teaching so as to examine ourselves to prevent it from working through us.
Hebrews 12:15 teachs us that if we do not live a lifestyle of persueing peace and holiness diligently, we could let an unseen network of poisonous irratation raise up from us that defiles us and many others. Jesus taught us to forgive 70 times 7 if asked for forgiveness that many times in one day.
"Springing up "5453 This word "springing", in the greek, is the root word from which the word "engrafted" from James 1:21 is translated from. It means ;germinate to grow=sprout.
Here now, we not only see how this problem is a contrast against the command to forgive, and the greatest 2 commands, but it is a dirrect opposit of James 1:21
"Receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls."
Then I read from Eph 4:29-5:3
After ministering about many words in those verses, I came down to 5:3, where it says "as becometh saints"
This opens up a whole other road of teaching.
The word "becometh"4241 in the greek means: to tower up, be conspicuous, appear obvious; so that you and your ways are suitable and proper. It means, that when others see our lifestyle and mannerisms, they see something with out question.
What is that something they obviously see in us? Holiness! At least, that is what's in our spirit being in Christ, so, we need Gods Holy Spirit united in our spirit along with his word illuminated to our understanding in these things, to generate a people like God in all manner of living.
And dont be surprised when they mock or ridicule or persecute you; all they that live godly in Christ Jesus suffer persecution.
NOW; I will address the word "saints" "as becometh saints" We are told by this word to stand out clearly towering above the standards of the world, in a fashion very conspicuously obvious that we are SAINTS.
But wait, dont the roman catholics say it normally takes about 50 years to become a saint, and first they have to nominate you, then go through beautification, then be canonized?
Well; that is just another human error in the name of religion.
The word "saint" or "saints" in the greek, is the Very exact same word also translated "Holy"; Even when Jesus in Acts 1:8 refered to the Holy Ghost.
You see, God is holy and has always said "be ye holy for I am holy"
God needs you to realize that you are a saint by his gift of the Holy Spirit because of Jesus death burial and resurrection. That precious blood of Jesus and Gods power that raised him bodily, bought for us Gods ability to house his Holy Spirit In Us. Because he has done such a great thing, we need to live out our lives striving to comply and search for the manifest presence of his holiness in us. That! my friends, is becometh saints.
If you wait for some religious organisation to cannonize you a saint, you most likely already died and missed your chance for it to be real, unless of coarse, you answered the call of this kind of word from God.
Just as it is written, that we are made joint heirs with Christ, together with him; So, we are as saints. Eph 2:19 says "ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the houshold of God.
"fellow citizens" means equal, means same. Just as Jesus was equal with God the Father in that they both are no more or less God, but both equally of One God; So, Being "fellow citizens" means, we are equally saints as other saints, and equally valid with all in the household of God; That includes all his heavenly host of angels. Brothers and sisters; If you are in Christ, you are a Saint. Now we must learn to live like one; Holy; Follow peace and holiness means, be persueing it. When you are a fellow citizen, you have equal rights and authorities, unless of coarse, you neglect so great a salvation, and disrespect thinking "once saved always saved" and do not work out your salvation with fear and trembling.
Seek God to reveal to you the depths of the manifold grace of God. You can benifit to learn from others, like the gifts I have; But I must continue to urge you, if you dont already, to press on towards God your own self, that you mainly trust in Jesus to be your great shepherd(pastor) and High Priest. Any pastoring that is not working towards getting you to that positional relationship, is a false pastor. We do not need you to sit under us forever. We love and cherish your fellowship, but you need to expect to eventually come to a place of maturity to serve God in the gifts and calling you have.
It is only by the opporation of God in us that these things are so, but God requires our humble submission and full willingness to comply; His Spirit in us is the power of authentication to do it. And we need to be gathering together at a church of like believers, where Gods ministry is working out the word of His work in us till we all come into the unity of the faith, built up and equipted and matured for the work of spreading this message to others.
Wait on God to mature a work in you. Do not let impatience and pride make you think you get mature in him in an instant. "A short work" is a false modern ministers way of making microwave salvation. You need to learn to "tarry" to minister under the Holy Anointing. I see too often, ministers thinking all you have to do is repeat a prayer, and presto, you are saved forever. Unless people get a grasp ahold of messages like this, and bring it to the world, many souls will go on with false hope.
I hope and pray that you continue in a lifestyle of praying and reading the bible, and fellowshipping what you think is true with others; God be with you and bless you with his peace as you rely on his goodness, mercy, grace and power, and be open to hear and obey a message such as this; Amen.
