The east side of Manhattan is getting more and more new places to go to. here is a french patisserie and bistro , and a chocolatier . Francois is the pastry chef from the third generation of chefs coming from several celebrated kitchens in both paris and new york. the bistro's chef is philippe Bertineau, formerly of park bistro and restaurant daniels in manhattan, and they are excellent. As it is well known many french families live on the upper east side and they will tell you payard is one of the few true french gastronomic experience in the city.
Payard has been designed by David Rockwell where you will feel comfortable in this classical atmosphere...go for a coffee or afternoon tea time, but also for breakfast...very french!.
A best at payard is to go for an afternoon tea, choose between "le the" or "le the royal" a tea menu composed of pastries and champagne and caviar on blinis.let's be a bon vivant.../tg

in soho on the corner of broadway and spring ,a wonderful atmosphere of the parisian bistro..has been born. Baltazar is always busy and a little noisy, but the food and decor are excellent. Next door, the Baltazar boulangerie, offers the finest bread and pastries of New york. After bitting into a traditional "pain campagne" you no longer want another bread.
reservations are the key for dinner unless you are really well known which is the case for many./ tg
