Designer after designer promises, with each collection, " Oh, my latest collection truly embodies the modern man, the modern, woman, the modern abode....". Yet very few deliver a product which could truly classified as being glamorously modern. A hodgepodge of synthetic materials and rockefeller-esque prices attack our sensibility each season, leaving us terribly confused. Yet, there is hope for those who choose to abandon the flock and seek a true sense of glamour.

Calvin Klein's latest collections artfully blend being modern with being natural. Within his minimalist aesthetic and with a chemists precision, he has created the first commercial, modern, and glamourous lifestyle. They are creations based in a confidence of knowing the future, knowing his client. He creates for men and women who live a glamourous urban lifestyle. In his Fall 1998 women's collection, purity was the hallmark of Klein's glamour. His pantsuits were lean and crafted for the modern working woman. His evening collection was but a brilliant palette of satin gowns, constructed with fluidity. Beautifully simple cashmere sweaters and boiled wool accouterments added depth of character. His men's collection was as pure as the women's, an almost monastic salute to the modern man. Heathered grey polos, cut perfectly on the bias, mixed with high twisted wools, sharp and linear suits, a perfect blend of modern technical fabrics and lush natural fibers. The Calvin Klein home collection completed his manifesto with bed linens, organza throws, dinnerware, and bath accessories created more like a haiku than a designer home collection.
