We finally found it. After
months of spanning the globae in search of the epitome of urban chic, the
urban crew happened upon the perfect boite.
Spoon, the latest creation by chef alain
ducasse, is tucked everso subtely in the 8th arrondissment on the rue marignan.
it is a modern restaurant, a bold reflection of the super-chic and super-mobile
clientele is serves.
As soon as you arrive, the entrance hall, like a contemporary vaulted cellar, leads you to the bar, completely transparent allowing the entire contents of the wine-list to float within. In its exotic wood wengé surroundings, this refined place offers its guests the choice between low banquettes ascomfortable as sofas, cozy armchairs, and elegant stools for people in a hurry who will eat at thebar. Some tables are even hidden away in wooden stalls, providing the privacy necessary for business lunches or romantic rendezvous. The atmosphere mutates from day to to evening. For lunch, you are bathed in a shower of bright daytime light perinnial pastels, for evening a cozy, urban collage of crimson and purple, highlighted by steel. Each table is unique so that each meal is a notable experience. Each guests place is set differently with irridecent or crystallized Jaune de Chrome poreclain, Christofle flatware, and for the Asian at heart, palm-wood chopsticks.
The menu is as flexible as the decore. According to Spoon, nothing is obligatory and everything is oriented toward the clients' freedom. Feeling fickle? Any mixed variety of pasta, cereals, beansm fish, pultry, meats, vegatables and cheeses can be invented specifically for your culinary curiosity. Spoon proposes a franco-american menu, spiced with more exotic asian or latin influences and for the finale, classic American desserts serve as the inspiration for pastry chef Frédéric Robert.More than twelve wines are available by the glass each day; thus enabling you to go on imaginary travels leading to different discoveries across the world; a unique selection of the world's wines (50% American wines, 40% world wines, 10% French wines) with bottles from Japan to Hungria via Australia, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, South Africa, the Argentine, and Chile.Twelve mineral waters from all over Europe, as well as a choice of iced teas and different beers, including the American Samuel Adams beer, may be taken with your meal as well.If your in a hurry, the bento boxes at the bar allow for raid repas in less than twenty minutes. Crafted with Japanese inspiration, these elegant pinic boxes offer a complete meal at the bar and includes a glass of wine and cup of coffee.
Spoon knows how to pamper beond the carte as well. Romantic note passing and brainstorming are provided writing pads and pencils at each table, magazines from all over the world for those quiet moments alone, and the only place in Paris where a second cup of coffee is free. 14, rue de Marignan 75008 Paris Metro: Franklin Roosevelt tel::33 1 40 76 34 44 Fax : 33 1 40 76 34 37 |
