Recruitment

Delta Zeta recruitment is a time for the sisters to learn methods of obtaining new members to join the sorority through our Beta Alpha chapter. We hold a formal Recruitment every Fall semester along with the other sororities at URI that are part of the Panhellenic Council. Informal Recruitment is held during the Spring semesters.

Sisterhood, Scholarship & Service

Over the past year, the sisters of the Beta Alpha chapter have worked very hard to improve our recruitment styles. Every Fall, before Formal Recruitment begins, we practice recruitment efforts several weeks in advance to prepare for recruitment activities. We hold sisterhood events, as well as practice Recruitment events, in order to prepare the chapter to the fullest. The practices consist of conducting mock house tours and probable conversations with Potential New Members. We sisters of the Beta Alpha chapter believe that the sisterhood activities help to strengthen our bond as sisters, and, as a result, teach us to help one another during Recruitment. In preparation, we feel that a more comfortable setting is better for Recruitment, either formal or informal.

Additionally, our chapter now spends more time focusing on how to recruit the right women for our chapter. We receive feedback from the previous year/semester on what worked well and what may not have worked as well as we had hoped. The Beta Alpha chapter tries its hardest each semester to continuously improve our recruitment efforts, while also continuing to increase our enrollment numbers.

In the Fall of 2004 three of our sisters, Danielle Bottegleri, Nicole Derosiers and Laura Socia, participated as Recruitment Counselors for Formal Recruitment. During that same semester we recruited 22 new members, 19 of whom were initiated in to the Delta Zeta sisterhood. We achieved a total number of enrollment that was above quota for that semester, which was an improvement over the Recruitment held in the Fall of 2003. During informal Recruitment of spring 2005, we recruited five new members, all of whom were initiated. Currently our enrollment is only one below quota, at 84 initiates. One of our goals for this past year was to reach quota and have at least 85 initiates. We are proud to have come so close to our goal and will strive in the upcoming semesters to have even greater success. All in all, the Beta Alpha Chapter of the Delta Zeta Sorority is continuing to have successful recruitment efforts and will strive to maintain that success in the future!
