Three police arrested over illegal firearms in Indonesia's Maluku
The police chief in the Indonesian province of Maluku says three police sergeants
have been arrested for possessing illegal firearms.
Brigadier General Adityawarman says the illegal firearms were found when police
searched a barracks in Ambon city.
Ambon and some other parts of the Maluku islands endured three years of
Muslim-Christian clashes - in which more than 5,000 people died - before a peace
pact took effect in February 2002.
Sectarian violence erupted again in Ambon in April, when 38 people were killed.
