Explosion rocks Indonesian election commission
There hass been an explosion at the offices of Indonesia's election commission just
before the result of the presidential election was due to be announced.
The cause of the blast in a toilet on the first floor of the building is not clear.
A commission spokeswoman says no one is believed to have been injured and there
has been no serious damage.
Officials were working to complete the counting of votes for the country's first direct
presidential election, which was held on 5 July. They had stopped work for prayers
when the explosion occurred.
The building was evacuated and about 100 police including bomb squad officers
rushed to the offices in central Jakarta.
With about 85 per cent of the vote counted, ex-general Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono
had 34 per cent of the vote, compared to 26 per cent for the incumbent Megawati
Sukarnoputri and 22 per cent for another ex-general, Wiranto.
