One Person Killed in Bomb Explosion in Langkat
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:An assembled bomb exploded in a house located in
Pragahan Namotating Selatan village, Sei Bingei sub district, Langkat regency (40 km
from Medan), on Tuesday morning (20/07) at around 01.30 am.
Sopian, 28, a resident in the house, was killed while another resident, Rehulina
Ginting, 33, was seriously injured.
Another victim, Hendra, suffered slight injuries.
Hendra said that an unidentified man had thrown the bomb into the location before it
exploded.
TEMPO received information that when the bombing incident took place, the victims
Sopian and Rehulina Ginting were asleep in the hut located nearby a fish pond.
These victims worked as the fish pond’s guards.
Following the incident, a team from the North Sumatra Police forensic criminal
laboratory went to the location and gathered bomb pieces.
They then brought these pieces to the laboratory for identification.
Meanwhile, North Sumatra Crime and Detectives Director Deputy, Adj. High Comm.
Iwan Harryu told reporters on Tuesday afternoon (20/07) that the police had not yet
identified the bomb type.
However, he confirmed that the bomb had been assembled.
"We are still conducting an intensive investigation into this incident. We are not yet
able to identify the type of this bomb nor the motive behind this bombing," said
