If you're here on this page, you're like me; you like TV and movies!!! This page is to tell
you a little something about the ones I like.
Well, I doubt it's TOO egotistical to mention- my favourite show has probably got to be my
own, Postmortem Espresso. Produced and shown on VCAM Burlington channel 15, we
feature music videos, montages, live guests & whatever other eye candy I can find.
channel 15 has a lot of cool programs in it's roster. Some of my particular favourites
include Video Free Burlington, The Davey Horror Show, Deathshead Theatre & Kingdom
Sound.
Like many kids growing up in the 70s, I watched waaay too much Tv as a kid. Saturday morning
after Saturday morning of cartoons.... my mom also tended to watch a lot of movies and
rarely if ever 'edit'ed things; she took me with her even if she went to things with R
ratings, probably figuring I'd fall asleep or not understand anyway! So my tastes became
kinda weird and eclectic...
When I was a littleun, like many littleuns I was fond of Sesame Street; those
oldschool shows were the best! For awhile when I was in Georgia a station I liked to watch
was reshowing them as Sesame Unpaved; I really hope that can be brought back! as I'm
sure I'm not the only person who wants to reminisce.
I was fond of the old Jackson 5 cartoon, and also the Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew
mysteries; I think nearly every girl of my era had a crush on Shaun Cassidy for
awhile...
I remember watching avidly almost every episode of Kolchak:the Night Stalker. Whereas
SciFi has picked this up again, and runs some of them time and again, it doesn't catch my
eye now as it did then...still, as a kid I was hooked.
I also loved scary movies and would watch Chiller Theater. anyone else remember the 6
fingered hand??
Oh, & I loved The Kenny Everett Video Show- I wish I could find old copies of it. I
liked reruns of the Monkees, too.
There was some little obscure channel out of NJ? I think? That would show The Uncle Floyd
Show. I liked this because it was goofy, had bands on, and besides Charlie the cameraman
was hot...this ran right after reruns of the old 60s soap opera Dark Shadows.I still
love Dark Shadows. To this day. It's so cheesy you can't help but have a laugh.
Anni and I? in the 80s? did a LOT of hallucinogens, yes we did. While on these things, we
watched a LOT of the old music station u68.... and the short lived Max Headroom
series. That I think was cool. Taking place in a world "10 minutes into the future", I think
it said a lot more about Tv networks and their sneakiness than it probably should have.
Maybe this is why it was cancelled so soon???
Yes. of course we liked PeeWee's Playhouse. I think it was Jombi the genie. No, wait,
maybe it was those trippy dippy Penny cartoons....
Fastforward a few years, and we finally had cable. MTVx was still playing metal videos
instead've rap crap as it does now. I was fond of the old MTV2 show 120 Minutes, and
the classic old Headbangers Ball, instead've the sad parody it's become. Liquid
Television was cool too, and I believe Alex Winter? the not-Keanu dude from those Bill &
Ted movies? had his own show too. It was kinda reminiscent of Kenny Everett in the way it
used video tricks. I'd like to see it again.
Having not noticed it on its first run, we also became glued to the second run of Quantum
Leap. Dean Stockwell as a hologram...yes!
TV started taking a back seat for me after a bit- I was doing too many things out in the
real world. I still occasionally tuned in various cheesy little adventure shows; remember
NightMan? how about Hercules? (I liked Aeolus, he was funny) or The
Crow:Stairway to Heaven?
I did however, like many people, watch a lot of The Simpsons; and until David
Duchovny went off of it, I was pretty hooked to The X-Files. My biggest interest tho,
at that time, was Buffy the Vampire Slayer- I started watching around the middle of
season 2 and stayed on until the end of both it and it's spinoff Angel, altho I
haveta kind of admit, the BtVS ending was very anticlimactic, and I lost a lot
of interest in Angel during the episodes about his son. It was adding Spike in the
last season made me watch it again...and then I was hooked until it was over.
While I was in Georgia, we had some Spanish channels. While watching these, I ran across
el Beso de Vampiro? I think? it's called? and altho I could only understand every
other word they said in it, I watched it because it was funny. They are, aren't they? soap
operas are funny. People take these plights so serious- you add in something wacky
and supernatural, & I'm all over it. Hence, I also watched Passions for awhile. I
still tune it in time & again, but since Timmy went off it, it isn't so interesting.
I like other cultures than my own. This is why I have the AZN channel... for awhile I was
watching the Korean music show Video Music Heaven, but eventually they took that off
again; I also liked the Japanese variety show Hey Hey Hey.
Sometimes I like to watch Holy Hip Hop. Altho most of my musical tastes are secular,
I've got no problem with worship music, and I like to find stuff that has an interesting
slant rather than just the traditional.
When Z'ela came back from the West Coast, he brought with him the DVDs of a sci-fi series I
had missed entirely on its first run, Lexx. It's a pretty cool funny show, and I
recommend checking it out. I've seen them all now, alas...
Another show I've seen all the episodes of but loved when it was new to me is a little
preschool learning show. Computer generated, and initially shown as little 5 minute mini
sequences between Sesame Street and something else, I found myself making sure I was
present to watch every new episode of Tiny Planets. It's about these two fuzzy
aliens, Bing & Bong. Bong is my favourite...
They don't seem to be showing it this winter! But we get a Canadian channel as well. Every
winter they used to show a art/minimovie showcase show called ZeD. Canada has some
cool TV. While in Toronto visiting my friend David I ran across another showcase show called
BiteTv. I wish they'd get it in America.
Adult Swim on Cartoon Network has a lot of cool shows. I'm not as fond of some of them as I
was when they started, but I used to watch AquaTeen Hunger Force, & Sealab
2021; I still like Robot Chicken, but I believe I may have seen them all by
now.
Once in a blue moon I still watch WWE. But they rarely show my favorite wrestler
anymore, The Undertaker.
I still watch a lot of music television, altho it's not what it used to be. I had to order
cable initially because MTV had long since stopped showing videos and become nothing but
boring reality shows. now MTV2 seems to be going that same direction, and when they are NOT
showing such dull fare, they are mostly rap. I'm sorry, but I just don't like rap that much.
Especially the same rap over&over&over&over.... it was sad when Headbangers Ball died
back in the 90s, but bringing it back was a far worse mistake. I still watch it, but mostly
I just wince. Subterranean is a pale 120 Minutes wannabe, but I watch it
anyway... there's still Vh1Classic channel, & that's good. I like their show The
Alternative very much. Unfortunately tho, VH1MegaHits, one of the stations I got cable
for in the first place! has gone dark and been replaced with LogoTV, the first gaycentric
station. I mean, how do you complain about that? I'm NOT anti-gay, but I am anti-Logo- I was
still enjoying VH1MegaHits and I'm annoyed anything took its place. This is almost as
irritating as when MTVX turned from metal to rap.
These music station moguls really ought to pay attention to who their watching audience
are....
Cartoons I have enjoyed throughout the years include The Jackson 5, The Real
Ghostbusters, Beetlejuice, He-Man, Ren& Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, X-Men:Evolution,
Invader ZIM & probably any number of others I've spaced out.
Shows I haven't gone into any detail about but require at least a shoutout include Monty
Python's Flying Circus, M*A*S*H*, Forever Knight, Drawn Together, Beavis& Butthead, Star
Trek (& Next Generation), any and all things Kroftt, & probably a number of
others I've zoned out at the mo.
I also just love the Travel Channel.
