March 1955 First Tactical Depot Squadron (TDS) enters training at Lowry AFB, CO. 2 Squadrons trained between March 1955 and June 1958. Known Assignments- 4th TDS- RAF Alconbury 1956-1964. 6th TDS- Toul Rosieres, France 1956-1962. January 1956 First Aviation Depot Squadron (ADS) enters training at Lowry AFB, CO. 4 Squadrons trained between January 1956 and June 1958. Known Assignments- 11th ADS- Thule AB, Greenland 1958. 13th ADS- Zaragoza AB, Spain 1958-1964. 14th ADS- Eielson AFB, Alaska 1956-1960. 15th ADS- Moron AB, Spain 1958-1963. Aviation Squadrons were assigned to stateside SAC bases and National Storage Sites beginning in 1949. Some units adopted the Wing number to which they were asigned shortly after assignment. Most units inactivated in 1954 with personnel transferring to Wing A&E (Armament and Electronics) squadrons. Aviation Field Depot Squadrons (AFDS) were assigned to overseas SAC bases, beginning in June 1951. Most units were redesignated Aviation Depot Squadron (ADS) in 1954. Tactical Support Squadrons (TSS) were assigned to overseas tactical locations, beginning in 1951. Exception was the 2nd TSS which was assigned to Langley from 1953 to 1962 to support overseas tactical mobility requirements. Units were redesignated Tactical Depot Squadrons (TDS) in July 1954.
