Dan was brought into Stony Brook as an assistant coach in the fall of 1995, as part of an entirely new coaching staff. Dan then took over as Head Coach in the fall of 1996 and led the team to their best record in well over 10 years. Dan further led the team in following seasons to winning records, which culminated with Dan behind the bench in 2000 when the team won the Metropolitan Collegiate Hockey Conference Championship, and made their first appearance at the American Collegiate Hockey Association National Tournament. Dan had a modest playing career as well, playing for minor league teams in Huntsville, Alabama and Jacksonville, Florida. Dan now works as a Sales Representative for Easton Sports.
