George has played a key role in the development of the Stony Brook Hockey team. George played for the team for two seasons, and took on different levels of coaching and management roles after his career as a player. As a player, George scored 25 goals and 22 assists in his first year with the team. He had a record 4 hat tricks in that year, three of those coming in successive games. George also led the team to its first championship in the Long Island Collegiate Hockey Association with a hat trick in finals against SUNY Farmingdale. George recorded 6 total hat tricks for the Patriots, and finshed with 44 goals and 42 assists in two seasons. George also worked as an Assistant Coach from 1980-82, as Head Coach from 1982-89, and served as Director of Hockey for five seasons subsequent to giving up the coaching reins in 1989. George's final coaching record was 67 wins, 62 losses, and 4 ties. Along with Rick Levchuck, George holds the record for most wins (67) and most seasons (7) coached, and took the team to the semi finals of the MCHC playoffs twice in 7 years. As a Director of Operations, George was instrumental in getting the first Polity funding referendum passed that supported the ice hockey program at Stony Brook. George later received his Masters in Business Administration from CW Post, and has also done post graduate engineering work at Stony Brook. Today, George works as Program Director for Symbol Technologies.
