Marty played for Stony Brook as a Patriot from 1981-85, when he then graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. Marty had quite impressive career stats, tallying 64 goals and 90 assists, which left him as the career scoring leader in Stony Brook history at that time. (The team went on to play more games per season in the mid-late 90's, and points per game have not been calculated along with recent stats) Marty was voted MVP in 1982-1983, was captain of the team in 1984-85, as well as being a 2-time Metropolitan Collegiate Hockey Conference All-Star. Marty was one of a few alumni responsible for organizing the 2002 Alumni Game, which took place February 23rd, 2002 at The Rinx, in honor of his friend and teammate Chris Panatier. Marty is co-owner of a computer consulting firm, Flexible Business Systems, which was established in 1986, shortly after he graduated from Stony Brook.
