John Ericsson Society honors DD440 with a plaque, 9 March 1941.


August 21, 1944, Armenians surrendering from the Isle D'Porqerolles. These people were forced into fighting for Germany and were trying to surrender for three days after German soldiers had evacuated. It is believed that they were executed after being returned to their country. They were excited to be on board the USS Eberle and are bartering for smokes (from 8mm movies of Carl Keyser).
