Restart the computer in MS-DOS mode. Make sure that you see a prompt like this
"C:\Windows>", Now type this command "edit/70 explorer.exe" and press enter
Now you will see a DOS editor like following
Now you have to put your cursor to the word Start, it is written in Line: 2390 as you can see from the Big circle.
Consider the spacing between every letter of the word S t a r t, Now you are required to replace these five words
with whatever you want ( e.g Name or a String). Locate your cursor under the letter S so you can see a line under
it :S, now press Delete then write the first word, then put the cursor under t and press Delete , write second word
you want and so on upto five characters. I warn you not to press these keys other wise your window will become
corrupted: TAB, SPACE , ENTER , BACKSPACE as i told you, only press Delete Key to make changes in the
word "S t a r t". If you pressed one of the above keys in error then immediately exit from the editor, pressing these Keys: ALT + F + X. It will ask you whether it save the changes or not, you have to press NO so you can prevent any problems.
If you sucessfully changed the word S t a r t, Press ALT + F + X. It will ask you to save the changes now you will Select Yes. Restart the computer and you are done. Whatever you replaced with the word S t a r t, will appear on the Start button

1) Create a folder named "my" in C: drive.
2) Open MS-DOS pompt.
3) Write this command to change directory: "cd c:" and press Enter.
4) Make sure you see this type of prompt: "C:\ >" if not, repeat step 3
5) Write this command: " ren my
"6) You might wondering about the box, infact when you press ALT+219
and then relaese ALT Key, it will display a box.
7) Now press Enter. Then type this command: "Dir" you will
see your folder name is changed from "my" to " my
"8) Type this command: "Exit" to return to windows. Now open the C: Drive
and look at your foler, you will see its name as "my_" this means you have sucessfully Locked
the folder. Try to open, delete , rename , move this folder. Surprisingly you can't do that as the
foler is now Locked.
To Unlock it, again open DOS Prompt. and follow these steps
1) Type this command: "cd c:"
2) Type this command: " ren my
my"3) Now the name of folder is again changed to its normal posture. Now you can
Handle it normally.
I showed this example to a folder in the C: Drive, you can do the same thing to any of
your folder on hard disk. So its easy to hide your data / files from others by renaming it
and putting a box somewhere in the name of folder.

You might be tired off with what you listen, when windows starts. I will show you an easy method
to get rid of it. Infact i m giving you an example for windows 98 but you can do it with any windows
If you want to put your own voice on the windows startup, then you must have a mic atached to your
sound card. But you can replace any sound file too, e.g. Replace a song or any audio clip.
I am sending you a sample file Click Here to download it. If you sucessfully
downloaded the file, then follow these steps.
1) Open this folder C:\windows\media (or multimedia).
2) Copy the downloaded file ( weep.wav ) to the above folder.
3) Look for the file named as "The Microsoft Sound"
and right click on it and select "Rename".
4) Now change its name to any one you desire let say "micro"
5) Right click on the file named "weep" and select "Rename"
6) Now set its name as "The Microsoft Sound"
7) Restart the computer and you will listen a weeping sound instead of
Normal startup sound.
If you have mic, then record your sound by windows sound recorder you can open it from
Start > Program Files > Accessories > Entertainment, You can record your voice easily and
save it as a .wav file to your hard disk. Now copy that file in the same directory (C:\Windows\Media)
and rename it as "The Microsoft Sound".
The logic is that you replace the orignal startup sound file in this case "The Microsoft sound.wav"
with what ever you want to run on startup by just renaming it. You can do it in any windows but
you have to make sure that you replace the orignal start up sound file with your own file. In case of problems, contact usman400@hotmail.com

1) Click Start and then Click Run
2) Type "regedit" and press enter, You will see a new program
3) There are two sides, on the left side Double Click "HKEY_CURRENT_USER"
4) Double Click "Control Panel"
5) Single Click "Desktop". On the right side, you will see some entries.
6) On the right side right click in empty space, then Click New, Click "String".
7) Now name this tring as "menushowdelay" and press Enter.
8) Now right click the String and Click "Modify"
9) You will see empty text box, type: ["2milliseconds"] (Type the brackets and quotes too)
in the text box. Restart the computer
10) Click on start menu and and move mouse up and down
You will see your menus open in a flash. The speed of all menus used by windows will
be much faster now.
Note This will not speed up Ms Office menus or any other program that is not a
part of windows installation. So it only speeds up the menus of internet explorer, My computer Start Menu, and every application of windows only.

First of all make sure that you have a ".gif" file. It may be your own picture The picture will
be used as a skin, If you have your file in other format, then change its format to .gif, You
can do it by using ACD See or any other good Graphics program. However you can use
the following picture too Right click on picture and select "Save Picture As" and then save
this picture to the folder "C:\Program Files\Messenger".
(140 X 160)
You can use any size but the recomended is (140 X 160) for better results.
1) Open this folder "C:\Program Files\Messenger".
2) Right click on the file "lvback" and Click Rename and set its name as
any text let say "real"
3) Now right click on "skin" and set its name as "lvback"
4) If you see the messenger appearing near the System time, right click
on it and click exit.
5) Open Msn messenger and you will see the above heart as a Skin of your
Msn Messenger.
You can put any file with the type "gif" to appear behind the messenger as a Skin by
doing the same steps replacing skin.gif with your own file.

You can replace four sounds of Msn messenger with your own voice or any sound file
in the format ".wav" . Infact Messenger has four alerts i.e.When a contact becomes online.
When a new mail arrives. When your contact enters his message, and fourth When type. I will only give you the example to change the sound when new mail arrives. You can replace others
too by doing following handy steps.
1) First of all make sure that you have a sound file with the type ".wav" .
2) Now copy that file in this directory: "C:\Program Files\Messenger".
3) Right click on the file "newmail" and rename it as any, let say "well".
4) Right click on the file you have just copied and rename it as "newmail"
5) If messenger is appearing near syatem time, Right click and select "Exit".
6) Make sure that the speakers are on.
7) Open the messenger and Sign-In with your E-mail address.
8) When you will see the newmail message in the corner of window, You will hear
a sound which infact was your own sound file.

This trick will not work in system folders : My Computer, Recycle Bin, Dial-Up Networking
Control Panel etc. Infact we will cusomize any folder except the main syatem folders. So any
folder you make or which is not a system folder, you can put a picture on.
1) Open any folder and Right click in empty space.
2) Click "Customize this Folder"
3) You will see three options. Click "Choose a background picture".
4) You will see a list of windows picture files Click one of them and Click Next.
5) Click Finish.
6) You can re-consider step number 3, so that you also can put your own Picture behind the
folder. Click on "Browse" and open your own picture then Click "Next", Click "Finish"
This option is more cool in window 2k and Window Xp.
