The role of Adults in Girl Scouting

Upper Saddle River has a very active Girl Scouting program.  There are two-hundred and eighty registered Girl Scouts in twenty-eight different troops and sixty adults are participating in the leadership of these troops.  These troops usually meet two to four times a month in several different meeting places in Upper Saddle River.  Many town-wide events held throughout the year include participation from scouts of different ages.
However, none of this would be possible without the help of the parents of the scouts.  Adults and Leaders are crucial to Girl Scouting.  It is extremely important for you to get involved in some way and to help out your daughter's troop leader, or become a leader of her troop.
Leaders meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at the Upper Saddle River Library during the school year.  These meetings are very important because they consist of some type of leader workshop and any pertinent information or handouts are given to leaders during this time.  This information can include such things as planning of town-wide events, calendar planning, issues brought up by council, changing of laws, safety rules, and problems of being a leader.
If you are new to Girl Scouting or to Upper Saddle River, you may find it useful to read a copy of Girl Scouting in Upper Saddle River, an informative book put together by a Senior Scout as their Gold Award Project.  Several copies of this book are kept in the Upper Saddle River Library and are lent out to those that are involved in scouting.
