While the USS Tethys is conducting her shakedown with
her new crew, midway through testing they recieve a
distress call from a Federation colony ship (USS
Washington) just outside the Nasser system, 11 ly away
from Starbase 212. The colony ship is currently under attack from 2 Maquis ships - 1 Cardassian Galor and 1 Maquis fighter. The Tethys has been dispatched to the area to resolve the situation since there are no other Starfleet ships within 30 ly of the battlezone. At maximum warp it takes the Tethys 37 minutes to reach the Washington from 6 ly out. The Tethys hails the colony ship informing them of their response to the call. When the ship arrives, they find a derelict USS Washington with all escape pods launched and no signs of the Maquis. After a scan of the area confirms all but 2 of the Washington's escape pods had been destroyed, the Tethys is under orders to beam the colonists aboard and pursue the Maquis Vessels, capture them both, and return to Starbase 212 where the Maquis defectors will be tried under Federation law. |
